Ms Jane Ewins joins Innova Partnerships as an Associate.

Jane Ewins is the latest member to join the Innova Partnerships Associate team. Jane has over twelve years experience in the life sciences in roles including project management, training, business development and scientific research in organizations in both Scotland and Australia. Commenting Mr Kevin Wilson, Head of Associates at Innova said 'Jane is a great addition to our team and her expertise in DNA-based diagnostic tests complements Innova's science base. We look forward to working together with her.'

Innova Biosciences appoints Tim Bernard (former MD of AbD Serotec) as a Director.

Innova Partnerships portfolio company, Innova Biosciences has appointed former Managing Director of AbD Serotec as a Director on the Board. Innova Partnerships introduced AbD Serotec to Innova Biosciences in 2007.

Tim has 24 years' experience of executive level leadership, strategic development and international sales within the life science sector. Formerly Managing Director of the antibody company AbD Serotec, Tim was a key contributor in the set up, growth and eventual sale of the business, strategically growing the operation from a £300K turnover to its sale for £20m to the Morphosys group in 2006. Since leaving AbD Serotec, Tim has worked with a series of SME Biotech companies (such as Oxford Expression Technologies, Everest Biotech and DB Biotech) to realise their full potential.

Speaking on the appointment Dr Steve Howell, CEO of Innova Partnerships said ‘We are delighted that Tim could join the Board. He brings experienced management and sector knowledge that will be invaluable for Innova Biosciences going forwards.'

Commenting on the announcement Dr Nick Gee, CEO of Innova Biosciences 'I am delighted that [Tim Bernard has] agreed to join the Board of Directors. The appointments significantly strengthen our capabilities in the areas of sales, financial management and strategic planning, and will help the company to maintain its current high rate of growth.'

Mologic Ltd and Innova Partnerships have formed a joint venture to develop and manufacture rapid 'in field' diagnostics for the veterinary and agricultural sectors. The company, Bócaora (Diagnostics) Ltd, will be based in Scotland and utilise the successful business principles from both organisations to deliver a profitable and exciting R&D-based technology company.

Innova Partnerships is pleased to announce that Mr Kevin Wilson has taken up the role of Head of Associates for the Company. This follows on from Kevin's appointment as an Associate in October 2008. Commenting Dr Steve Howell, Innova's CEO said "It is great that Kevin takes up this position at a time when we are expanding our business. He will provide a focal point for the work our Associates do in supporting SMEs. Since he joined us in October 2008 Kevin has consistently delivered high quality work for our clients."

Innova Partnerships portfolio company Innova Biosciences Ltd has been awarded a €455,000 European grant over 3 years to develop easy to use DNA conjugation kits. As a result the company is recruiting laboratory staff to expand operations. The grant forms part of the €3 million PROACTIVE consortium of which Innova Biosciences is part of.

Innova Biosciences has had enormous success with its Lightening-Link conjugation range which now has over 40 labels that can be added to proteins in a quick and simple to use process. These products are now sold to research laboratories in over 30 countries around the world and are used for, amongst other things, cancer diagnosis. The expansion of the Lightening-Link range into DNA conjugation will further establish Innova Biosciences as the world leader in bioconjugation technology.

Commenting on the award Dr Nick Gee, CEO of Innova Biosciences said "We are delighted with the award. Moving into DNA conjugation complements our current product range and will allow us to provide the scientific community with an even greater range of easy to use conjugation kits to perform pioneering research."
